Is the City of Beaconsfield responsible?

No

The City of Beaconsfield declines all responsibility for the Partage Club platform. Its involvement is limited exclusively to the acquisition of licences for the benefit of its residents.

All responsibility lies with Partage Club and its users, according to the terms of service that users must accept when they download the Partage Club app.

What if something gets damaged or lost? Can I get compensation?

Don’t worry! Partage Club handles incidents directly. The City of Beaconsfield does not intervene.

Each user is covered up to $300 per year, according to the terms described in section 11.5 – Limitation of liability of the Partage Club Terms of Service. This applies to any item valued over $25.

Do I need to lend something to be able to borrow?

No.

You can start borrowing without offering anything in return. This is a network of mutual help, not a barter system.

By borrowing something, you might actually make the lender really happy! Don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone and borrow from a neighbour you don’t know yet… this might lead to a great new connection!

I’m not comfortable with technology. Can you help me?

Yes! The Beaconsfield Library team is here to support you:

  • In person at the reference desk during opening hours

  • By email: bibliotheque@beaconsfield.ca

  • By phone: 514 428-4400, ext. 4470

Bring your mobile device – the team can help you:

  • Download the app

  • Set up your account

  • Learn the basic features

I don’t have a mobile device. Do I still need the app?

Yes, you have to download an app to use Partage Club.

It is only available on mobile devices and can’t be used from a web browser.

Here are a few options:

  • Borrow an iPad at the library for on-site use – you’ll be able to post and manage your requests .

  • Ask a neighbour to help you – even better, if you have a neighbour connector who lives on your street (through the Connecting Beaconsfield project), they’ve likely heard about the app!

Can the City of Beaconsfield publish a request on Partage Club on my behalf?

No.

For privacy and security reasons, each user must place their own requests.

However, the library team can walk you through how to use the basic features, including how to place a request.

Who can respond to my requests for help with services or items? Who sees the objects I want to lend?

Only Beaconsfield residents with a Partage Club license granted through the City can see and respond to your requests – whether it’s for borrowing an item or requesting a service.

This local access helps strengthen social connections between neighbours, which is the main goal of the Connecting Beaconsfield project. These connections help build a stronger, more caring and resilient community — a daily benefit, but especially valuable during crises or emergencies (power outages, storms, floods, etc.).

Why are service categories limited?

Beaconsfield is the only municipality offering this feature to its residents.

It is being co-developed with Partage Club, the City of Beaconsfield, along with you, Beaconsfield residents.

Current categories focus on services that can be provided outside the home, to ensure everyone’s safety.

Each interaction through the app helps build trust and strengthen community solidarity.

These categories will evolve with the seasons and as new community needs emerge - especially during emergencies, like the August 2024 floods or the extended power outage in April 2023.

Stay tuned for updates directly in the app or through the City’s channels (newsletter, social media, etc.).

Have a suggestion or idea? Don’t hesitate to share it!

Can I lend items with sentimental or high monetary value?

That’s entirely up to you!

However, we recommend not lending items with high sentimental or monetary value if you’re not comfortable with the potential outcomes.

What happens if an item is returned late?

Partage Club encourages punctuality.

If you’re running late, we recommend contacting the lender to inform them and agree on a new return date.

For any issues, reach out to the Partage Club team directly.

How do I report inappropriate behaviour or a problem with another user?

If you experience inappropriate behaviour or an issue with another user, you can report it directly through the Partage Club app (via messaging or email).

The Partage Club team will assess the situation and take appropriate action.

Is my personal information safe on Partage Club?

Yes.

Partage Club is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with its privacy policy. Your information will not be shared without your consent.

Has Partage Club been implemented elsewhere? Can I learn more about it?

Yes, Partage Club was created in 2022.

It has been successfully implemented in Laval, Beloeil, Boisbriand, Saint-Césaire, and Prévost — and more are coming!

Partage Club was born from a simple observation: while overconsumption continues to rise, most of the things we own sit unused in our closets. To address this paradox, a practical solution was created — an app that makes it easy to lend, borrow, and share with your neighbours (and ask help for certain services, exclusively in Beaconsfield!).

Want to learn more about its story?

Note: since Beaconsfield is the first bilingual municipality that will be offering Partage Club – articles and interviews are in French.
