Your 2025 property tax bill may show an amount due for the 2024 water bill on the first installment stub, due February 27, 2025.
Why does this amount appear?
The tax bills were printed on January 14, 2025. Due to the Canada Post strike, the deadline for payment of the water bill was extended to January 23, 2025. As a result, payments made between the time of printing and the January 23 deadline could not be reflected in your tax bill.
What do you need to do?
- If you paid your water bill before January 23: you can ignore the amount of arrears (other sums) shown on your first installment stub and pay only the Current taxation amount.
- If you have not yet paid your water bill: the Total amount due indicated on your first stub remains valid until the deadline of February 27, 2025. However, the City recommends that you pay the arrears (other sums) as soon as possible to limit interest and penalties.
