Some rules to follow during snow storms

Safety and Prevention February 12, 2025

Ahead of the storm that is expected to start this evening, the City wishes to remind residents that parking on the streets is prohibited after a snowfall of 2.5 cm or more, and continues to be prohibited until 6 hours after the snowfall ends. Vehicles interfering with snow removal operations will be towed away at the owners’ expense with a fine.

During of after a significant snowfall, please ensure that your bins are not placed on the sidewalk or the street for collection. Please only place your bin in your driveway with a clearance of at least 2 feet around the bins, and make sure that it is not placed on a snowbank or tipped over. This will ensure that bins are not damaged during plowing, and allows for the efficient clearing of streets and sidewalks. Due to the storm, we may experience delays with the garbage and recycling collection.

While shovelling after a snow storm, please remember that all snow from your driveway or walkway must be kept on your property and not plowed onto the street, a fire hydrant, or sidewalk. This helps to eliminate high banks and improve the visibility required to exit safely.

Those who do not respect the Nuissance By-law BEAC-033 or the Traffic By-law are at risk of receiving a fine starting at $100.
