Update on our snow removal operations

Safety and Prevention February 21, 2025

Our snow removal crews have been making progress on clearing the record amount of snow.

Sidewalks

  • All sidewalks on the territory have been cleared of snow.
  • Salt will be distributed on the surfaces today for added security.

Streets

  • Snow clearing operations will be completed on all streets today.
  • Work will begin on clearing the Elm bike path of snow next week.

Fire hydrants

  • Fire hydrants have been getting cleared since Tuesday, with several buried under over 1 foot of snow. The work is progressing steadily and will continue over the next week.
  • If you have a fire hydrant on your property and are able to clear it of snow, this will help speed up the operations.

Outdoor rinks

  • Work is ongoing to clear the outdoor rinks, which require significant shovelling and snow blowing
  • Strong wind gusts are adding to the challenge by blowing snow back onto the rinks, but efforts are continuing to make the rinks accessible as soon as possible.
